Mrs. Keeley, is a graduate of the University of Evansville and Bethel University.  She is a retired Indiana Music Educator with over 30 years of teaching and performing experience.

In addition to Classical literature, students may also learn music from their favorite genre, such as Jazz, Ragtime, Pop, Broadway, or Disney, etc.  Much like learning a foreign language, students are taught to read, write, and understand musical language.  Regular and dedicated practice must take place several times a week to be successful.

Music lessons include the following:

  • training in proper technique, music theory, ear training, sight reading, and music history

  • age-appropriate scales, arpeggios, technical studies, and musicianship skills

  • accompaniment training (when proficient) and duet opportunities

  • participation in annual Christmas programs at Assisted Living Centers

  • participation in the Studio Spring Recital, Holiday Recital, and/or Honor Recitals

When proficient, piano students may also participate in the following music festivals or competitions:

  • Achievement in Music Festival

  • Stickley Memorial Piano Competition & Festival

  • Monday Musicale Auditions

  • Hoosier Auditions through Indiana Music Teachers Association

  • Indiana State Schools Music Association Festivals

  • Additional various Northwest Indiana competitions

HOW TO REGISTER:

If you would like your child to be considered for piano lessons,

please make sure the following criteria are met first:

1.  You must have a full-size 88-key piano (acoustic or electric), with touch-sensitive keys, and a working sustain pedal.  A small electric keyboard is not sufficient for practicing at home.

2.  The piano must be located in your home in an area free from distractions and you must be willing to have it professionally tuned regularly.

3.  Your child must commit to practicing at least 4-5 times per week and you must be willing to supervise them until they form good practice habits.

4.  Your child may need a foot stool, a cushion to raise your child up to the proper bench height, and a piano lamp.

5.  There is a trial period to make sure we are a good fit for your child and that they will take their lessons seriously.
